We used to go to our apartment in Las Vegas approx every other year and one time they cut off our padlocks (why didn't they ask for the keys?!) took everything out, then they were just flung back in. Lord knows what they thought we were carrying that they felt the need to do this before we had even claimed our baggage.

 

Yes, my luggage gets checked frequently, and I have TSA approved locks so they can open them with their master key.

one time I got patted down because my pants were too long and bunched up around my ankles, so they thought I might be smuggling something there.

On my lady scuba trip my equipment was in my carry on, and they made me wait while they inspected my bag to see what the equipment was.

 

I’ve had my carry on and myself checked multiple times. I’m TSA precheck now so it doesn’t happen as much anymore.

 

If you want to speed up the process just loudly say "Don't you know who I am?". TSA screeners LOVE that.

I used to sprinkle my luggage with tampons when traveling overseas. Man those agents would be embarrassed and shut my bag right up.
It worked great.

 

Sure often, I fell, have at it guys, wear yourselves out. Worse though my sister had packed her jewelry one time instead of carry on! Gone!

 

Hell yes. All you can do is just zone out and let them get it over with. I've even got the TSA Pre Check. They will still do a random pat-down.

 

I haven’t been searched but my husband has been searched twice on our way back from the islands. Not sure why they had to search him. he was in a tank top, baggies and flip-flops. The kids got a kick out of it.

I am a "trusted traveler" so I am pre-approved globally.

 

My wife is so bad, when we go back to Germany, then returning home she brings so much German food back a lot of it in cans, but often frozen foods, that she hopes will not spoil, during the roughly 12 hours it takes us to get back home in our house. The last time we lost our luggage and when we got it back, shipped to our home a few days later, all of the frozen blutwurst and leberwurst meat was gone, with a note saying we were not allowed to bring that into the country. But the passion fruit was still there, Passion fruit was much cheaper in Berlin than here.

 

Shooter once observed a mans bag searched at a security checkpoint.

The bag had ladies underwear in it. Shooter really wanted to hang around, see how things worked out, but he was running late for his flight.

 

I've never been searched or my bags. I always had to be pre-approved before arriving at a airport.

 

We got searched going into Mexico once. Opened all our bags right there on the airport floor. my son got searched flying back to the US from Paris. My older son got searched when he flew home alone from London.
interestingly, we never seem to get stopped flying domestic.

 

This thread has been dormant for awhile, is it because of COVID-19 travel restrictions.

I wonder how they protect themselves against picking up the virus.

But, yes I’ve been searched and my luggage, missed a flight out of Honduras because of slow security guards.

 

I have TSA approved locks, got sick of having to replace locks so it just made sense.
I usually get a good pat down too, but I don't object to that so much.

 

In fact I was, flying to Florida out of Newark, 'bout 5 years ago or something, when all ya had to worry about was terrorism and not covid....

Was planing on fishing, took my tackle box, of course it had a knife, confiscated, told it could be mailed back to me if requested, never bothered.

And they never found the oz of pot I was traveling with
