Guest-animated couch gags have become a welcome trend over the past few years on The Simpsons. The last notable one came from Ren & Stimpy creator John Kricfalusi last Halloween, but this week’s episode features a sequence created by longtime Disney animator Eric Goldberg. And keeping with Goldberg’s filmography—which includes Aladdin, Pocahontas, and the upcoming Moana—it’s a brief tour through the early history of Walt Disney animated classics. It starts out with Maggie in a Steamboat Willie homage, and then moves through several other films as the rest of the family shows up. Lisa steps out of Cinderella’s pumpkin carriage; Marge uses her vacuum as a broom while Snowball and Santa’s Little Helper lend a hand to the strains of “Whistle While You Work”. (Eagle-eyed viewers can also spot the three-eyed crow.) Homer, styled to look like Baloo from The Jungle Book, amasses a pile of snacks. Finally, it all snaps back to reality once Bart, as Fantasia's Sorcerer’s Apprentice, turns everyone back into their usual Matt Groening-ed selves. You'll be missed, Disneyfied Simpsons.
