Ting wins top prize at Texas food festival
Ting, the popular Jamaican grapefruit drink, won the People’s Preference Award for first place in the Beverage Category at the annual ZestFest food festival in Fort Worth, Texas recently, JIS News reported last week.
The three-day festival attracted near 10,000 persons who sampled foods and beverages from more than 100 booths representing different countries worldwide.
Participating Jamaican manufacturers included GraceKennedy Limited and Walkerswood Caribbean Foods Limited.
Ting, now produced by Pepsi Jamaica, was developed by Desnoes & Geddes Ltd, the Jamaican soft drink and beer manufacturing company that was eventually bought by Diageo, a British firm that specialises in the manufacturing of premium beverages such as Johnnie Walker, Guinness and Smirnoff products.
